When is it safe to get a facial? Your guide to glowing skin.

Facials are a fantastic way to refresh your skin, relax your mind, and invest in your overall wellness. But as with any skincare treatment, timing matters. To ensure that you receive the most benefits from your facial (and avoid any unwanted side effects), it’s important to know when it’s safe to book your appointment. Your health and safety are our top priorities! Before you schedule your next glow-up, take a moment to review these important contraindications.

WHEN TO SCHEDULE YOUR FACIAL

Certain skin conditions, medications, and treatments can make your skin more sensitive or reactive. If any of the following apply to you, it’s best to wait before booking:

  1. Using Retinols or Tretinoin

These powerful ingredients can cause increased sensitivity and irritation during a facial. If you’ve used them, give yourself 48 hours prior to booking your facial.

  2. Recent injectables or fillers

Facials can interfere with the settling process of injectables like Botox or dermal fillers. Wait at least 14 days after receiving injectables before booking your facial.

  3. Active cold sores, infections, or open wounds

Facials can spread bacteria or worsen existing skin issues. Wait until your skin is fully healed before booking a facial.

  4. Recent Accutane Use

Accutane (isotretinoin) dramatically affects your skin’s oil production and sensitivity. Wait 6–12 months after completing your course, and consult your dermatologist before booking.

Pregnancy & nursing: what’s safe?

We’re proud to offer facials that are considered safe during pregnancy and nursing. However, some enhancements may not be suitable:

  • Safe: Standard facials tailored to your skin type

  • Avoid: Enhancements like Nano infusion or Python Peel during pregnancy or while nursing

Always let your esthetician know if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding so we can customize your treatment accordingly.

when you’re good to go

If none of the above apply to you, congratulations — you’re likely in the clear to enjoy a rejuvenating facial! We recommend:

  • Arrive with clean skin

  • Share any recent changes in your skincare routine

  • Communicate your skin goals and sensitivities honestly
